This encrypted information is stored in the template so someone who has the template, with a powerful enough computer, could eventually crack this encryption. But any other user, or on a different computer or login, must re-enter the credentials. Once entered for a user on a computer, that user on that computer (assuming they use the same login) will not need to re-enter the credentials. It is encrypted using your current login to your Windows system. Encrypted by user - Store the credentials in the template in an encrypted format. Anyone with the template and moderate programming skill can read the password in the template. Anyone editing the template has access to the data source and does not need to enter the information, or even know it. Common (all users) - Store the credentials in plain text (it is UUEncoded) in the template. There are three ways to store these credentials in the report template when editing Tags : If a data source requires credentials (a username and password) to access its data, you must provide these credentials in Report Designer to access the data. PowerPoint - It will display Tags as hyperlinks where the full text version of the Tag is encoded in the hyperlink address, and the Tag nickname is displayed on the slide.Remaining Tags will be displayed using the Fields method. Excel - It will display Chart Tags as Excel charts, Import and Out Tags that display an image as native Microsoft Excel images. It will display Chart Tags as native Microsoft Word charts, Import and Out Tags that display an image as native Microsoft Word images, and remaining Tags as fields. Word - You must save templates in the DOCX format to use this format. It is specific to each product in Microsoft Office: PowerPoint - It will displays Tags as hyperlinks where the full text version of the Tag is encoded in the hyperlink address, and the Tag's nickname is displayed on the slide.įields + Objects: This option is available in Microsoft Office 2007 and later editions only, as it makes use of functionality that does not exist in earlier versions. The cell is limited to 255 characters, so be aware that full Tag text will be displayed if you are over this limit. This macro then displays the Tag's nickname when the cell is not selected. Excel - Places all content in a cell containing Tags inside an Autotag("cell contents.") macro.Word - The name of the Tag displays in your template and the entire full text version of the Tag (including its attribute settings) displays as a tooltip when you position the cursor over it.This is similar to adding Tags manually without using Report Designer.įield: Displays the Tag as a field reducing its size in the report template. Text: Tags are inserted into the template as plain text. These options affect how the Report Engine reads your Tags, and how Report Designer writes Tags into your template. You must restart Office after changing this. If it is not selected, then the context menu will have nothing added. RMB - Tag Editor: If selected (default), then pressing the right mouse button (RMB) for the context menu will include several Report Designer commands at the bottom of the menu. You must restart Office after changing this setting. If it is not selected, then double clicking on a tag will operate in the standard way for Microsoft Office. This scan occurs each time the Tag Editor opens or validation is run, and may cause a noticeable impact on your system's performance.ĬontentControl: Scan the template to check content controls for Text Tags.ĭbl-Clk - Tag Editor: If selected (default), then double clicking on a Tag will bring up the Tag Editor. Prior text: Scan the template (up to the current position of the cursor) to check for Text Tags as well as Field Tags. This setting will cause a minor impact on your system's performance. Text also: Report Designer will evaluate any Text Tags in your template as well as the Field Tags. If you only use templates containing Office2007+ and/or Field tags, turn off both of these options. You may also need to select the Prior text option. If you have Text Tags in your template, you must select the Text also option. These settings affect how Report Designer reads text in your template and decides whether to interpret it as a Tag.
